If you seen Monster-In-Law movie, you know there a scene where the assistant gets totally fed up with the mother and she gives her a pieces of her mind. (watch trailer/movie here for clarification). Well, I feel exactly like that about the whole winter business. Notice mountains of snow around me? There is no where to escape as we are trapped in an ice age. Above 30F seems like a dream and hopefully we will be getting some sun this week. Although, I will believe it when I see it. In the mean time, I'm recovering from a nasty cold (which I successfully avoided all winter to catch in March. yeah.). If anyone is packaging sun and selling it online, I will take a whole bucket full please.

When it comes to outfit pictures, I started this blog very self consciousness. I didn't feel very confident and still didn't know who I am in many different ways. I wanted to be like this or that blogger, simply because I liked their style. Over the years, I have discovered more of myself and became confident in my own skin. It's really fun to do photo shoots now-a-days and although people  are still gawking, I really don't care anymore. They usually don't ask, but even if, I just tell the truth. Most of my family still doesn't understand why and what exactly I do but it's fun. And I like it. I'm also so very grateful for my faithful photographers who constantly oblige with my demands. This blog would not exist without the people behind the lens.

There is nothing I love more than a pretty skirt that makes me feel girly. I love the style and easy with which this skirt moves. It's time to get your Christmas pajamas out, drink hot tea and read. I found this adorable children's book in Barnes and Nobles the other day and think it would be perfect for snow day snuggles. Especially for certain someone who has been giving his parents trouble at bed time. I love J.Crew pajamas and although I haven't splurged on one yet, I'm hoping I will find one under the Christmas tree this year. Also, must have cozy slippers (which are also cute). I hope you are enjoying your long weekend (don't remind me that it's almost over) and finding new and tasty ways to eat that left over turkey.

Fall Must-Haves 2014

For me, Fall always started with school year, whether I'm studying or not. It's always been the time for apples, hot cider and layers. We can definitely feel chill of autumn air every morning in these parts, and to be honest, I love it. Unlike summer, we have been having some golden fall days, filled with cool, crisp mornings followed by warm, sunshine-filled afternoons. 
I love it.
Also, on my radar, cooler tones and some layers. I always like styling my summer pieces for fall, layering cardigans and jackets. It's so much fun! This season I'm pretty much on board with all the trends like black and white, sneaker-shoes, leather, leopard print and floppy hats. And I may actually give camo print a try. Maybe.
I hope you see something you like, and get  some shopping done because the season is upon us. 

BUDGET TIP: for the trends that you aren't sure of (like leather) try your local consignment, or thrift store. You can buy the item and not feel bad about it if you end up wearing it only once.

Patriotic (Sort Of)

Happy 4th everyone! I feel somewhat sacrilegious wearing the red, white and blue colors. After all, it's a flag of a nation and people gave their lives for it, not just a fashion statement. That's my personal opinion, and yet I still want to join other bloggers in celebrating this holiday. (Just a side note. Why don't we all look like a Christmas tree during holiday season?)
I hope everyone enjoys their three day weekend and gets some rest. I will be celebrating with family and taking the next week off from blogging. It's our anniversary and I'm doing a 5K run, so need to train and plan some festivities. It's been a long time since I took a break but I think I need it. I'm thinking about changing direction and re-branding, or even quitting all together. Not sure what the next step is and what God has for me at this point but I do know that there more important things out there than outfits. I love dressing well and showing ladies how to be modest and fashionable but maybe that's not my thing in life. As I take time to contemplate, pray and enjoy my family, I hope you have a great weekend. Thank you for reading!

Summer Storm

This year summer has been very slow in these parts. As we were shooting this outfit post, a huge stormy cloud was approaching us. My sister was behind the camera so I told her to hurry up and snap some pictures before we get rained on. Few minutes later I could hear the rain coming our way and yelled at her 'it's coming'. She wasn't sure what I was talking about and seconds later we were drenched in a perfectly warm summer rain. As we were running to the car, I was trying to hide the camera from the rain drops and in the process wasn't very careful with the door, which slammed me in the face. Ouch. 
Today, I'm sitting in front of my computer, listening to the rain fall on the roof of the house, and enjoying the quite. It's nap time. Although the rain prevented me letting Jonathan loose outside, I love listening to the sound of rain in a perfectly still house. Now on to get some work done.

As Good as It Gets

The other day hubby and I were discussing the business of weddings, after we received a wedding invitation from our friends. Their nuptials are going to take place on our exact wedding anniversary, even the same hour! It was wild to read their invite, because it reminded us of our own wedding. It's going to be six years (WOAH) next month since we walked down the isle. It feels like we got married few months ago not few years!
We reminisced about our wedding day, talking about all the things that we hold dear to our hearts. Coincidentally we were on the way to the same hotel we were staying at on our wedding night, for lunch. I said that I remember very little from 'the best day of our lives' and how unrealistic expectations get people in trouble. Of course, everyone dreams about a romantic and gorgeous affair which ends in a passionate night of hot lovin, but that's simply unrealistic. 
It was a very well organized day with a lot of places to be, people to see and things to do. Expecting it to be the best day ever seems to set people up for failure when something goes wrong. Having it as stress free as possible is as good as it gets (we had a minute by minute schedule we gave out to our whole family - it helped). And I'm fine with that. It was a very happy day, but the best part? The rest of our lives together.

A lot of times when I take pictures of my outfit for the blog, I think, is it enough? Is my outfit trendy enough? Do I have enough accessories? Is it Pinterest worthy? And quit frankly, it gets so exhausting at times. There is a pressure for a style and beauty blogger to be on trend. Otherwise, your pictures will not be pinned and the Insta account will loose followers.
I feel like, I have been trying to be someone else for a very long time. Looking at some of the more accomplished and expensive bloggers, I fee inadequate. But this is just me, having a nice day with my son at the zoo. You know, there are days when I have simple and non-trendy outfits on. That's OK nd it needs to blogged too.
It's really not about the clothes or how much we have, or what kind of bag we could scrape up on. Life is about so much bigger things. Stop worrying about fitting in and being something you are not. Just stay true to yourself and everything else will fall into place.

Let's just talk about the new trend that has taken over blogosphere - neon aviators. Yes, I succumbed to the pressure of the web and bought myself a pair. I do like them with certain outfits, when I like to give something edge. I do like the RayBan's but they are way too expensive for a seasonal trend. So I headed to the mall and found myself a pair of cheap aviators that I know I wouldn't be upset if my son finds. And guess what? They look just fine and that's that's way I like it.
